How We Curate Faculty Who Teach with Heart & Depth
At SOUL DE SOUL, faculty are more than instructors — they’re guides, mentors, and heart-centered leaders.
In a world where “bigger, faster, louder, all the followers” often takes center stage, we choose something deeper: presence over performance, purpose over prestige, and soul over showmanship. Our faculty aren’t just skilled technicians and artists (because WOW - our faculty is TALENTED!) but they’re humans who show up with intention, care, and truth.
So how do we choose the people who stand at the front of the room? Here’s a look behind the curtain at what matters most when curating the SDS teaching team.
1. They Embody the Message, Not Just the Movement
Technique can be taught. Depth is lived.
We look for faculty who walk their talk, artists who live aligned with the values they share in the studio. Whether it's their devotion to their craft, their willingness to grow, or their ability to hold space for others, our teachers model what it means to be an artist and a human.
They know dance is about more than steps, it’s about intention, impact, and integrity.
2. They Prioritize the Dancer, Not the Ego
We’ve all experienced teachers who make the room about them. SDS is different.
We choose faculty who understand that teaching is an act of service. Their energy isn't about commanding attention, it’s about amplifying others. Our instructors pour into dancers, not to prove something.
They meet dancers where they are and guide them forward with compassion, challenge, and grace.
3. They Hold Space for All Dancers to Belong
Dancers come to us with different backgrounds, bodies, stories, and levels of experience. We honor that. Our faculty create environments that are welcoming, inclusive, and brave. . . where dancers feel seen, not sized up.
Every correction comes with care. Every class is an invitation to come as you are and leave a little more connected to your soul.
4. They Lead with Curiosity & Co-Creation
We value teachers who don’t pretend to know it all because they’re still students too. The SDS faculty are collaborators. They’re curious. They’re willing to be vulnerable, to adapt, to try something new with the room, not just at it.
This makes space for authentic exchange, where dancers feel not only inspired, but empowered.
5. They Teach to Transform, Not Just Train
We’re not here to manufacture dancers. We’re here to awaken artists.
That’s why we choose faculty who teach with a lens of transformation, using dance to help young creatives connect to their voice, their truth, and their potential.
They don’t just want you to “get the combo.” They want you to get free, get honest, and get connected to what moves you most.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Who stands in front of the room matters. They shape not just the weekend — but sometimes a dancer’s entire outlook, their confidence, and their path forward.
That’s why our faculty curation isn’t random or trendy. It’s intentional, relational, and heart-led. Because we’re not just building classes — we’re building culture.
And we’re honored to keep building it with artists who care as deeply as we do.
