There is no specific age restriction for the levels at SOUL DE SOUL. We recommend that dancers participate in the level that best matches their experience and skill set. Studio owners and directors are encouraged to place dancers in the level they feel will provide the most beneficial challenge and growth—regardless of age.

At SDS we prioritize quality, intentionality, and the overall dancer experience.
DOUBLE THE TIME ON STAGE: Each soloist/performance receives approximately five full minutes on stage — nearly double the time of a traditional competition — including live, in-the-moment feedback from our faculty.
50% LESS ENTRIES: This extended format means we can only accept half the number of entries compared to standard events, allowing us to offer a more intimate, meaningful, and artist-centered experience.
REIMAGINED PERFORMANCE FORMAT: Our Showcase was never designed to mirror other competition formats. It was built as a space to see the artist, not just the technician, and create a more spacious, impactful, and individualized experience for each performer. You can read more about this in our blog post —> “The Intention Behind Our Showcase Experience”.
While we know our model may not align with traditional pricing structures, our goal is to offer something more intimate, focused, and transformational for each dancer/performance — and we hope that remains a differentiator in a landscape full of options.

Because of the unique format of the Soul de Soul Showcase — including extended stage time, live faculty feedback, and a more intentional, artist-centered experience — we currently aren't able to offer media access for free or include it in the base entry fee. The mandatory media fee supports our ability to provide every dancer with high-quality video, photos, and seamless integration of written feedback, all delivered through our partner, DanceBug, in one streamlined, easy-to-access place.
Each video also includes the verbal, in-the-moment feedback from our faculty panel, making it a powerful reflection and learning tool for dancers.
As we continue to grow, we're exploring ways to reduce this cost while maintaining the depth, care, and quality our dancers deserve.
