A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR:
founded inside my dream to create safe movement spaces and a vision to disrupt traditional convention training; SDS seeks to empower young artists by providing safe space in which dancers learn agency, artistry, and community. integral to this mission is a dedication to hiring only the industry’s best educators, who facilitate classrooms and learning environments where dancer’s feel seen, safe, and encouraged in their process. the heart of SDS is the altruistic ethos and creation based culture where the emphasis is on people.
my sincere hope is that everyone (dancers, teachers, studio owners, and parents) who attends a SDS weekend leaves feeling seen, heard, inspired, and motivated in their pursuit of purpose and training. that their value as a human being is celebrated and emphasized, that they feel strengthened by a like-minded community, and that they leave empowered in their own magic.
i feel deeply honored and humbled for the opportunity to speak life in to SDS dancers across the united states. it is a huge honor each time a studio owner chooses to bring their families to a SDS event. there are so many options for convention training, and while i feel confident that a SDS weekend provides exceptional training and partnership in a studio’s seasonal journey, i consider it a tremendous privilege and take great responsibility in our approach to each weekend.
